pv magazine Award is almost ready to celebrate the most powerful products and impactful innovations making their way to the market in 2022. More than 200 hopefuls across six categories have shared their latest innovations in the hope of bringing home an award in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Balance of System (BOS), Inverters, Manufacturing, Modules or Sustainability.
Applications are now closed. Winners will be announced in January 2023! In the meantime, we’ll continue to highlight some of the most intriguing entries and more in each monthly edition of pv magazine Global.
All you need to know about the Awards’ process 2022:
pv magazine has been gathering together the biggest and most exciting innovations in the solar and storage industries in 2022. To select our Award winners, pv magazine assembled expert juries with representatives from throughout the solar world. Selection criteria for pv magazine Annual Awards:
• Efficacy of the solution: What problem does it solve for the industry? How well does it do this? • USP: How does the approach differ from other solutions in the same market segment? How effective do you believe it is? • Economic feasibility and market impact: How significant is the market impact and how does it contribute to reducing costs or improving quality in the solar/storage industries?
This year, we have been accepting entries again in the categories of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Balance of System (BOS), Inverters, Manufacturing, Modules and Sustainability. The winners will be chosen in December by our independent jurors and announced in January 2023!
In the meantime, check out the video from our Award Ceremony held at the start of February 2021:
And the 2021 Award winners are…
BESS: Fluence, IQ Bidding Application
The solution supports energy storage and renewable technologies from any provider and is configured to meet the unique warranty constraints and operating parameters of each asset.
BOS: CAB Solar, Integrated grounding messenger wire cable management system
The management system impressed the jury with its simplicity and ease of deployment, and high potential for labor saving impacts in the large-scale solar segment.
INVERTERS: Sungrow, SG350HX
Among all entries, the jury was most impressed with Sungrow’s SG350HX. The most powerful string inverter available on the market addresses the issue of higher operating currents when large-format modules are used.
MANUFACTURING: Sono Motors, Vehicle integrated PV solution
Sono Motors impressed our jury with its practical process that integrates solar into the vehicle manufacturing process.
MODULES: Jolywood, Niwa Black
Chinese n-type specialist Jolywood came out on top of the deliberations, with its 182 mm, TOPCon cell delivering both high efficiency and the company convincing the jurors of its ability to scale the technology.
SUSTAINABILITY: Viking Cold Solutions
During the jury discussion, it became clear that Viking offers an effective sustainable solution to a major environmental challenge: food wastage. Indeed, the company claims to have developed the “only proven, environmentally friendly way to store solar energy in the cold storage market”.
PUBLISHER'S PICK: Fronius International
The Austrian company celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Business Unit Solar Energy this year, and in these 30 years Fronius has moved ever closer to its vision of a future in which 100% of the world’s energy needs are covered by renewable sources such as solar PV.
